MODULE 3 CAPSTONE ACTIVITY
MODULE 3 CAPSTONE: Bringing It All Together
⏱️ Estimated Time: 30 minutes (15 to plan, 15 to execute)
🎯 Goal: Integrate techniques from all five lessons into one memorable read-aloud session, then reflect on what worked.
Your Challenge
Choose a favorite book (one you’ve read together before) and plan a read-aloud session that incorporates at least ONE element from each lesson:
From Lesson 3.1 (Voice, Rhythm & Expression):
- I’ll use varied pitch/tone for at least one character
- I’ll adjust pacing during one exciting or suspenseful moment
- I’ll pause dramatically at one key moment
From Lesson 3.2 (Props, Movement & Sensory Engagement):
- I’ll use one household prop
- I’ll invite one movement activity
- I’ll add one sensory element (sound, texture, etc.)
From Lesson 3.3 (Conversation):
- I’ll ask one curiosity question
- I’ll ask one reasoning question
- I’ll ask one feeling/connection question
From Lesson 3.4 (Retelling):
- After reading, we’ll do one 5-minute retelling game
From Lesson 3.5 (Difficult Topics):
- If any emotional moment arises, I’ll pause and acknowledge it
- I’ll use one phrase from the Scripts sheet if needed

After Your Read-Aloud
Reflect on these questions (write or record your thoughts):
- What technique did your child respond to most?
- What felt natural vs. what felt awkward?
- What surprised you about your child’s engagement?
- Which skill do you want to practice more?
- How did this read-aloud feel different from your usual approach?
🎊 Congratulations!
You’ve completed Module 3 and transformed your read-aloud practice. You now have practical, confidence-building techniques to make every page come alive.
Remember: You don’t need to use ALL these techniques every time. Choose what fits the book, the mood, and your child’s energy that day.
The goal isn’t perfection—it’s connection.
📢 Share Your Experience (Optional)
If your course has a community forum, share:
- Which book you chose
- One technique that worked beautifully
- One challenge you encountered
- One “aha!” moment you had
Learning together makes us all stronger!
